 STEVE SACCO
STEVE SACCO started playing drums in his early teens. Influenced by music from the 60s + 70s he started to take his music seriously. By the early 80's Sacco was playing with Point Of View, a new wave band that found early success playing the NYC and NJ circuit and opening shows for national acts in upstate NY. During a gig one night Sacco was approached by 17M, a new music band that pushed the borders further out on the cutting edge. 17M needed a high energy drummer with a passion. Sacco accepted the challenge and continued to play clubs, finding more doors opening for studio work and various projects.
Gathering a collection of exotic percussion instruments would be the next step in experimenting and creating diverse new sounds. Always in search for effects, Sacco has an incredible arsenal to choose from. It's always a surprise when he reaches into his bag of tricks. This blended sound of percussion, traditional & electronic drums lead him to world class magician Jeff McBride. Intrigued by his craft, McBride asked Sacco to play special effects for the show "Mask, Myth, Magic." This union would bring McBride's show to a new level. The discipline and endurance required for this show continuously challenged Sacco to perfect his craft. Outrageous reviews for "Mask, Myth, Magic," followed sold out shows in NY City and Atlantic City. Taking the show abroad, they toured theaters in Hong Kong and Taiwan for The Children's Arts Festival. The choreographed drum sections balanced the principals of theater, while expanding the role of drumming and movement. Later, the show traveled to Monte Carlo. They were invited by Prince Ren Ye to play at the Festival de la Magie to be held at Le Theatre Princesse Grace De Monte Carlo.
Currently, Sacco is a solo artist and creates relaxing, meditative mood music in his studio using synthesizers and percussion effects. His diverse experience has encouraged him to explore new methods of drumming and spiritual music, ultimately discovering the link between sound and its healing potential. Sacco is a multi-dimensional artist and innovative percussionist adept in many styles. He is always reaching for higher levels and his experience has heightened his sense of endless musical possibilities.
